The Historic Johnston-Nims House of Mt. Holly

The Johnston-Nims House (also locally referred to as The Spratt House) was originally built in the 1820's as a 2-story Federal Style house, on 400 acres in an area known as Woodlawn (now Mt. Holly), just 14 mi NW of downtown Charlotte. It's been the home of prominent local figures, a one time governor of AL, & even housed refugees during the Civil War. The original home was only 4 rooms (two up and two down) w/chimneys at each end. It's been expanded many times over the years but lots of original architectural details remain. Roughly a mile from charming downtown Mt. Holly, the home now sits on 4 acres, features 4156 sq. ft. w/ 7 fireplaces, 4 huge bedrooms, 2 full baths, 2 half baths, & several outbuildings including "the milk house" (housed the original well). More recent updates include a kitchen renovation (prior owners), electrical panel box, amazing primary bath & walk-in closet, upstairs laundry, 1/2 bath, mud room, side patios, rear formal garden w/fish ponds & raised beds.
